It has now been 4 months since the last athletics season finished in April. In May I started training with a group at Mingara to work on some technical issues and was really looking forward to the next season with a new age group of M50. Ah the dreams, By the end of June training groups had been stopped due to a COVID lock down and training by myself dropped off significantly after this. During August I made it for a total of 2 training sessions.
So a new month starts. September. Partly the buzz post Olympics, the weather getting warmer and some jealousy of my brother and nephew getting to compete over in WA, It is time to get my act together.
For the last few years I have kept a training journal in Google Docs, but this season I going to also publish it here week by week, including plans and aims for the season. As I currently train myself and by myself the aim is a bit of outside accountability. Lofty aims (and a bit of arrogance) may come back to bite me, but what the hell. Other athletes may even get some inspiration or ideas from it.
With COVID around there is a lot of uncertainty how this season will play out, what travel within Australia and internationally will be available and when. My guess is that we may get local meets in November and larger ANSW organised meets in December.

Please don’t follow what I do blindly. I have no current coaching qualifications, and even though I have had some success as a masters sprinter most of that I would put down to the good fortune of no serous recurring injuries.
